Inbesondere die verschiedenen Toolboxen zur Geoverarbeitung sind sehr stark. Mit ArcGis lassen sich viele Operationen leichter als z.B. mit der freien Software QGis ausführen und auch die Unterstützung durch Foren und das Wiki sind gut.

Leider ist die Software nicht besonders nutzerfreundlich, es ist eine lange Einarbeitung notwendig. Auch als erfahrener Nutzer entdeckt man immer wieder Funktionalitäten, von denen man nicht wusste, dass es sie gibt, und muss öfters in Foren oder bei Esri nachschlagen, wie einzelne Funktionen anzuwenden sind.

Ease of use, the quality of product and the quality of the output.

It does take some time to learn how to use some of the specialized editing tools but if you need to make a quick map, it’s super easy.

Its easy to use and produce powerful maps.

The file management needs to be improved.

UI / UX is generally intuitive and well-organised which is helpful especially for beginners / infrequent end-users who do not use ArcGIS on a daily basis.Tools / mapping capabilities were useful in helping to visualise otherwise complex and difficult to understand datasets

At times the interface was laggy, and it is difficult to do mass edits to visual elements. E.g. duplicating layers and moving layers around takes a long time

I like ArcGIS because it is a powerful and versatile mapping tool. It allows me to create detailed maps that can be used for a variety of purposes, from creating visualizations of data to helping to analyze spatial relationships. It also has a wide range of features and tools that make it easy to customize my maps to my specific needs.

I have found that one of the least enjoyable aspects of ArcGIS is the steep learning curve associated with the software. Although the program is powerful and has a wide range of features, it can be difficult to learn how to use all of its tools and capabilities. Also, the software can be quite expensive for individuals or small businesses, which can be a barrier to entry for some users. Lastly, the software can be quite resource-intensive, requiring a powerful computer to run smoothly.

ArcGIS has many great functions, even for new GIS users. I was able to start mapping immediately and use some really great tools such as Survey123. The user interfaces make the software easy to learn but it also has plenty of technical features for more advanced users.

ArcGIS has many different components and can feel overwhelming at first. The sheer number of options on the web mapping can be confusing but a quick google search is usually helpful in figuring those out.

ArcGIS is an excellent tool for working with geographic data, and I found it very useful when I was working on a research project that involved marking measurement points with coordinates. The software's extensive features and functionalities made it possible to work with complex geospatial data and create informative maps.

The cost of the software can be a significant drawback, particularly. I do recommend ArcGIS to work with geographic data.

I have liked the output GIS map to be integrated into my research. The output has made my papers stand out.

I found the interface to navigate and sometimes difficult to squeeze out how much it can offer.

The software is really helpful for my team to update the as built data to the existing utilizes. The software is very helpful in tracing a and locating the route of utility structures form the pre recoded data available. The software is helping to import and export Geodata very easily. It is possible to view all attributes of the recorded utilities . If a multiple utility is available in location it is possible to hide one and view the other one which we require.

The Importing of data is a little bit complex

Once you get the hang of it, you can do virtually everything a mapper can do. The tools are not complicated and can be used with little supervision. The module builder is my favorite as it has saved me tons of hours. All my repetitive tasks were programmed with the module builder. This afforded me the opportunity to multitask.

The only cons is that when parcels are too small, the software is unable to calculate the area and other statistics.

ArcGIS leads the pack with functional tools like ArcMap, one of its most popular in spatial analysis. The tool-pack within ArcMAP allows users to convert layers to new formats, analyze data using a several geoprocessing tools, merge layers together and truly begin understanding landscape patterns. It has also been used to help forecast or predict after filtering layers or attributes within a layer to learn a unique set of characteristics that predict occurrence of a species or phenomenon, such as bank erosion. With the software, the user can subscribe to ESRI news to learn more about the broad applications of the product. And because it is so widely known, users can easily find tutorials and classes to learn the product. Recently I sought help from customer support and I will say, they are relentless at helping to diagnose the problem.

There are a lot of competitors for ArcGIS, though none seem to do everything that ArcGIS does. Rather than spending time waiting for the software to open, recognize our network license, and load the base maps, I can usually find an answer to my question using Google Earth or something similar. The high level of functionality comes at a cost. In addition to the memory hungry aspects of ESRI, the user interface can be a little intimidating. There are many tools and ways to layout the interface. Sometimes it can be confusing to know where the tools are and how to access them. While the interface is customizable in some ways, the geoprocessing tools cannot be added to the interface (or I haven't figured out how) and toolbars need to be loaded each time. For example, when I'm creating a shape file, I have to continuously ask the software to open the window for creating features. I'm sure this is great for some people who don't like machine learning or having their computer assume too much of their needs. But for me, I love that and would really like to see some of these customizable elements become more user friendly. Not only would that make things a bit more efficient on my end, but it might also make the experience less daunting or confusing.

since 1980s, ESRI has been a terrific performer, in Geospatial, Geotechnical, Geology, Government, Utilities, Transportation and Logistics, IT enablement.

1. ESRI is a high-end solutions and capabilities provider, their software can handle all kinds of requirements in LBS, Spatial Statistics, Data mining with GIS, Market Research with GIS, Geodatabases and likewise.
2. Pros in Information Technology world are primarily ArcPy, GIS consulting solutions for IT companies, main competitors Hexgon, General electric and others like IDRSI, ERDAS, SICAD, Transcad, Open gis platforms like Quantum GIS are weak and not customer specific.
3. Return on Investment, ROI from ArcGIS, ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcToolbox, ArcLogistics and solutions is good. Customization is excellent, their data models and work is exemplary in GIS world.
4. Licensing for Govt, Utilities, others is pricy as one would expect, but what can one do, customer support is good. Licensing is a major con.
5. GIS from ESRI-America is the dream for the Geographers, Engineers and other geospatial professionals to work with. ESRI internships all around the world. Also, it is used by Planners, Urban etc.

Major Con:

1. ESRI is offering startups a free licensing for using it for GIS startups for one year. not enough.
2. Major con is license and training cost for young graduates around the world.

ESRI is THE GIS company. For handling everything geospatial, they are the go to company

There are fun errors that are legendarily frustrating. Reading documentation is a language of it's own. But nothing classes can't overcome

New Pro software is more user friendly and has so many more capabilities

publishing server maps can be a problem and sometimes causes errors

ArcGIS by Esri has a great reputation and experience in the GIS software market, for which it has great competitiveness to position itself as the main option for computerized geographic analysis. Impeccable reporting, advanced statistical tools and effective handling of large amounts of vector or raster data make it simply the best.

Personally, I believe that the cost and high hardware requirements of ArcGIS limit individual entrepreneurs willing to give their start in a second level analysis. However, it is important to highlight that for these cases there are several free access softwares with powerful analysis tools that, despite not having the complete and integrated analysis of ArcGIS, can satisfy certain advanced needs. On the other hand, investing in this software represents a strength to be on the tip of the iceberg, since the response time and the depth of the analysis can be much more favorable for the client.
